The Relaxing Side Of Ibiza

7th February 2020

When you hear mention of Ibiza, thoughts may immediately turn to the infamous parties that take place throughout the summer, during which world-famous DJ send crowds of music-loving travellers into a frenzy. Not exactly what you expect from a Star Clippers cruise.

However, there is much more to this Balearic beauty than nightclubs and all-day festivals. When your ship arrives on these sun-dappled shores during a Western Mediterranean cruise, there will be plenty of slower-paced activities to keep you busy.

Wander Through Dalt Vila

Ibiza cathedral

Ibiza is not just the name of the island but of the island’s biggest town too. The fortified section, known as Dalt Vila (Old Town), has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features many medieval remains. The main highlight is the Catedral de Eivissa, built in Gothic style between the 14th and 16th centuries. Due to its hilltop position, you can climb to the top and enjoy fantastic views out to see.

Other points of interest within the walled Dalt Vila include the Castell de Eivissa and the Archaeological Museum. However, this peaceful place can offer just as much joy to those who simply choose to wander through without visiting any of the sights. A maze of alleys and stairways take you past modern shops, restaurants and bars nestled in amongst the historic architecture.

Sunbathe At Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia

Take a short, 20-minute trip up the east coast of the island and you will arrive in the resort of Santa Eulalia. Whilst San Antonio and its thumping clubs appeal to those looking to party, this peaceful town is popular amongst families and anyone looking to relax. As well as the strip of upmarket shops and laid-back bars, the tranquil beach is a great place to soak up the sun.

Santa Eulalia is also known as Ibiza’s gastronomy capital. Let your stomach guide your choice from a fantastic selection of gourmet restaurants with spacious outdoor areas and enviable sea views.

Amble Through The Aquarium

Sea Turtle

Proving that San Antonio is not all about dancing ‘til dawn on the Sunset Strip, the Aquarium Cap Blanc is the ideal relaxing activity for animal lovers or anyone wanting to get out of the midday sun for a while.

Built inside a former smugglers cove, the aquarium houses various marine creatures and is a rehabilitation centre for injured sea turtles. All of the fishy fellows here inhabit the Mediterranean region.

Enjoy An Extension Of The Ship

Sea Turtle

If you are enjoying the great facilities on board your Star Clippers ship, there is no reason why you can’t continue in the same vein when you arrive in Ibiza. With fantastic spa resorts aimed at improving your physical and mental wellbeing, exciting water sports to take part in and numerous sunbathing hot spots, the island can be your own personal extension of the ship.

Relax with a gentle kayak trip through crystal clear waters, enrol in a meditation class or simply find the nearest patch of sand until the ship sets sail again.
