Waving At Whales In The Azores
As you travel from Europe to the Caribbean on one of our transatlantic crossings, the ship will visit the port of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. This stunning archipelago is perfectly placed for whale and dolphin spotting, as many species pass through on their migratory routes or enjoy lingering in these waters for longer periods of time. A small group of adventures can climb aboard a motorboat and head out in search of humpback, sperm and blue whales, as well as bottlenose dolphins and even killer whales (which are, in fact, dolphins).
Spending Time With Turtles In Curacao
The ‘Beach Hop and Turtle Snorkelling Adventure’ is a four-hour excursion offered in the port of Willemstad, Curacao. You will be driven to one of the island’s many beautiful beaches, one known for its natural highlights rather than sunbathing spots. Here, your snorkelling guide will help you see some of the colourful sealife that lives beneath the waves, including magnificent turtles that often frequent this park. The dive spot is part of an underwater marine park and is home to various species of captivating fish.
Ogling Orangutans In Borneo
One highlight of our South-East Asia cruises is the chance to see the iconic orangutans on the island of Borneo. This excursion is sure to create memories that you will treasure for the rest of your life, as you visit the Semenggoh Nature Reserve Park in the hope of spotting primates that were once orphans in the former rehabilitation centre. Now released back into the wild, they regularly return for a free meal and to greet you with a squeal of joy.
Discovering Dragons In Komodo
Komodo dragons are some of the fiercest creatures on the planet, but you will get the chance to see them face-to-face when you visit the Komodo National Park. The successful conservation efforts mean that this area was designated as a ‘Man and Biosphere Reserve’ in 1986 and has since been given UNESCO World Heritage status too. Whilst being led by an experienced guide, who always carries the tools needed to fend off any inquisitive dragons, you’ll hopefully get to see how these ferocious creature stalk their prey and protect their territory.
Meeting Monkeys In Nevis
Nevis, part of St. Kitts and Nevis, is a small island that is dominated by lush rainforests. On a three-hour trek through the undergrowth (involving a moderate level of fitness), you will learn about the interesting flora and fauna found in this part of the Caribbean. As well as bamboo trees, tropical fruit and various bird species, you will hopefully catch a glimpse of the playful green Vervet monkeys that live here. Continuing along the trail, you’ll reach a height of 1,800 feet and be met by jaw-dropping views of the neighbouring islands.
