6 Things To Know About Dining On Board Star Clippers

8th February 2019

Mealtimes are often the best part of the day when you’re enjoying a cruise. The chance to savour some delicious dishes from the region in which you are travelling is something that many people look forward to and there’s no exception when sailing with Star Clippers.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will all become firm fixtures on your daily schedule, no matter where in the world you are. So here are a few things to know about dining with us.

There’s No Formal Dress Code

Relaxed Dining

We want your Star Clippers cruise to be as relaxing as possible and that extends to how you feel during mealtimes. Therefore, you won’t have to adhere to any black tie or formal dress codes at any point during your holiday. So, leave your tux at home and take a seat within a casual atmosphere and a laid back setting.

You’re Free To Dine How You Like

Informal Dining

Likewise, we don’t want to dictate when and with whom you eat. There are no seating plans or separate sittings, you can simply choose to dine at whatever time you like between serving hours. Opt for a large table of eight and enjoy a fabulous meal with new-found friends or find a cosy table for two and delight in a romantic evening with a loved one. You may even find that members of the crew become your dining companions, as is the relaxed nature of our restaurant.

Lunch Could Be A Shoreside BBQ

Beach BBQ

As well as buffet lunches that feature glorious seafood, fresh salads and prime cuts of meat, lunch could also take the form of a beach BBQ. If you find yourself docked on a breathtaking Caribbean or Mediterranean island, the crew may decide to get the grill out and cook lunch for guests on the shore. This is always a memorable occasion and gives you the chance to enjoy a party atmosphere and not miss a second of the gorgeous weather.

Start The Day In The Right Way

Continental Breakfast

Whether you’re an early riser or a late starter, there’ll be a breakfast waiting for you when you wake up. From 6.30am, continental options such as croissants, cereal and yoghurts are available in the dining area. Then, after 8am, you can tuck into a hot breakfast in the form of full English components and omelettes made fresh to order. Obviously, tea, coffee and juices will be on offer too, meaning you can start your day however you would normally.

Evening Meals Are An Elaborate Affair

Delicious Lobster

Whilst breakfasts and lunches are something to relish, the main event when it comes to food has to be the evening meal. There is so much to choose from and you can really indulge in some beautiful creations prepared by the exceptional chefs. Menus feature options from the area where the ship is currently sailing, as well as some international dishes that everyone will enjoy. Plus, if you’re not particularly taken by the choice, there’s the option to order something from the ‘Always Available’ menu, like steak and frites.

The Captain’s Gala dinner is always a memorable evening – a five-course extravaganza of mouth-watering culinary delights that will please your eyes as well as your stomach. The traditional basked Alaska parade rounds off the meal in style.

You Can Creep Out For A Midnight Snack

Afternoon Snack

Don’t let a rumbling stomach keep you up at night. If you’re feeling peckish around midnight, head back to the lounge for a sneaky snack; you won’t be the only one. Options typically include bread, cheese and chicken fingers, all served from 11.45pm until 1am. This is not the only snack time on board a Star Clippers vessel, though, you can also enjoy an afternoon snack in the Tropical Bar in the form of sandwiches, fruit and cookies.
