4 Highlights Of Our Summer 2021 Program

20th March 2020

Travel may not be possible for the time being, and rightly so, but that shouldn’t stop avid cruisers daydreaming and planning for future holidays. Whilst your plans for summer 2020 may have been disrupted, there is plenty to look forward to on board Star Flyer, Star Clipper and Royal Clipper in 2021.

So, in order to continue to feed your imagination during this difficult time and hopefully provide something excitement on the horizon, here are some highlights from next year’s Star Clippers program.

Grand Prix Finals

Monaco Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most exciting and popular motor races in the world and one that is firmly fixed on most sports fans’ calendars. With the recent announcement that 2020’s race has been cancelled, the 2021 event is likely to be even more popular and you could be there as part of a Star Clippers cruise.

Departing Cannes on 22nd May 2021, you’ll arrive in Monte Carlo for the finals of the race on Sunday. As you soak up the legendary atmosphere on the streets and watch the drivers push their cars to the limit on one of the world’s most challenging courses, the luxury yachts of other high-profile spectators will bob up and down in the city’s harbour.

Following an exhilarating day, you will climb back aboard the ship and continue on to the spectacular destinations of Elba, Corsica and Sardinia.

Voiles De Saint Tropez

Les Voiles de Saint Tropez

As we detailed in a recent blog post, the Voiles de Saint Tropez is an annual sailing regatta that’s hosted along the French Riviera. If you’re considering a Star Clippers cruise, the chances are you’re interested in the history and traditions of sailing and so something like this may well pique your interest.

The itinerary is very similar to the one that takes you to the Grand Prix finals above but, in this case, there is some more time to enjoy Saint Tropez – both the beach and the city. Having embarked in Cannes on 25th September 2021, you will arrive in sun-drenched Saint Tropez on the Thursday in time for the regatta the next day. As more than 300 sailing ships of all sizes compete in this illustrious race, you can cheer the competitors on from the shore with hundreds of other sailing fanatics.

Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia Church

Our popular Mamma Mia itinerary returns in 2021, sailing on 15th May, 5th and 26th June, 7th August, 18th September and 2nd October. These sun-filled cruises feature many of the filming locations used during the first Mamma Mia movie, allowing you to relive your favourite scenes from this ABBA-inspired classic.

The round-trip from Athens visit the islands of Skiathos and Skopelos, where key scenes from the original film take place. Skopelos is home to the charming chapel of Agios Ioannis sto Kastri, where Sophie was due to get married, whilst a stop in Skiathos will allow you to visit the Old Port, where the three fathers met for the first time. Other destinations on the itinerary include Poros, Lemnos and the Turkish town of Dikili.

Morocco and Canary Islands

Tangier Blue Kasbah

As one of our newer cruises, this itinerary will take you to the golden shores of the Canary Islands, the bustling souks of Tangier and Safi, and the historic, pastel-hued port of Cadiz. You’ll depart from Malaga on 3rd November 2021 and stop by the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar along the way.

Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura are the particular islands that will see the ship sail into harbour, opening up a world of sandy beaches, quiet hiking routes and exciting water sports to you and the rest of the guests. Your time in Morocco is sure to reveal much of the country’s history and culture, so be sure to immerse yourself via a shore excursion or by exploring on your own.
