Borneo debuts in Star Clippers’ new 2019/20 sailings

Tall ship sailing cruise specialist Star Clippers has revealed its sailing itineraries for 2019/20 in a new Preview brochure. Borneo features as a new destination for the first time, as does a new Greek island itinerary on board Star Flyer which takes in the film locations of Mamma Mia. There are also additional Panama Canal sailings, with new ports of call, in addition to existing destinations and sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and South East Asia.

Borneo is the world’s third largest island and an exciting new addition to Star Clippers’ South East Asia itineraries in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Known for its beaches and ancient, biodiverse rainforest, it is home to many cultures, cuisines and exotic wildlife, including orangutan, clouded leopards and the Irrawaddy dolphin. Star Clipper makes the most of the new sailing itinerary, embarking in Borneo and cruising the Malay Archipelago to Singapore. The new 11 night sailings from Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, to Singapore on board Star Clipper depart during May and October 2019 and cost from £1963pp, including all meals on board and port charges and a 20% early booking discount for bookings made by 31st January 2019.

The Greek islands of Skiathos and Skopelos, where the 2008 movie “Mamma Mia” was filmed, are included for the first time in a new 7 night round trip sailing from Athens (Piraeus), departing on 18th May, 8th and 29th June and 17th August 2019. During the new spectacular sailing itinerary Star Flyer also drops anchor alongside Dikili, Turkey, as well as the Greek islands of Limnos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Poros. The 7 night sailings cost from £1506pp, including all meals on board and port charges and a 10% early booking discount for bookings made by 31st January 2019.

Other sailing itineraries in Star Clippers’ new preview brochure include Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mediterranean and Caribbean waters and trans Atlantic and Panama Canal transits. Full details of health, fitness, food, wine and cultural interest sailings are yet to be announced, but Royal Clipper once again will be in the Bay of Monaco for the Monaco Grand Prix on 26th May 2019, during a sailing from Cannes along the French and Italian coastlines, also taking in Sardinia, Elba and Corsica. The 7 night Grand Prix sailing costs from £1718pp, including all meals on board and port charges and a 10% early booking discount for bookings made by 31st January 2019.

Notes to editors: Star Clippers operates three of the world’s largest and tallest fully-crewed sailing vessels, with a new ship currently under construction. The ships can drop anchor in smaller harbours and visit ports often untouched by larger cruise ships and providing guests with the amenities and atmosphere of a private yacht.

High standards of service are provided by an attentive crew and all three ships have expansive teak decks, swimming pools, informal dining, a convivial Tropical Bar on deck and a comfortable piano bar and are large enough to offer first class accommodation and dining.

The two smaller ships, Star Flyer and Star Clipper, take 170 guests each, with a crew of 70, while Royal Clipper carries 227 with a crew of 106.

END.
