How Royal Clipper Differs From The Twins

16th August 2019

Within the Star Clippers fleet, Royal Clipper plays the role of big sister to the two twins of Star Clipper and Star Flyer. These smaller vessels have exactly the same layout and features, whilst the flagship can boast some extras that you may wish to take advantage of.

So, let’s take a look at what makes Royal Clipper so different.

Larger

The first thing is something that is obvious, but you may not have thought about some of the benefits of Royal Clipper being larger. For example, her size could mean she is a slightly better choice for anyone worried about seasickness, as there may be less movement in rough seas.

Aside from that, Royal Clipper is a different kind of ship, boasting five masts instead of four and a massive 20,000 square feet of additional sails. If you’re interested in the history of sailing, perhaps you’re keen on a unique journey aboard the largest fully-rigged tall ship in the world. Finally, whilst Star Clippers already offers a higher space-to-guest ratio than most cruise lines, Royal Clipper’s larger size means there is even more room to feel at home and more fellow sailors to befriend.

Marina

Royal Clipper Marina

Whilst all three of our vessels offer fantastic water sports, it’s even easier to enjoy your chosen activity thanks to Royal Clipper’s marina. This platform at the aft of the ship lowers into place and acts as a floating jetty from which you can embark on kayaking, diving or windsurfing adventures. This means you’ll have instant access to the water and spend less time waiting around.

Observation Lounge

Observation Lounge

Positioned perfectly to be able to see where the ship is headed, the Observation Lounge is one of the most relaxing places in which to sit and enjoy a drink when on board. You can gaze out of the window at the sea spray and surrounding scenery, or sit and read one of the destination guides from the shelf.

An Extra Pool

Swimming Pools From Above

Whilst the two smaller ships have two pools on the top deck, Royal Clipper gives you three to choose from. That’s an extra place to dip your feet, an extra area in which to soak up the sun as you read the latest page-turner and an extra opportunity to cool off when the sun gets too hot.
