Tags
You will find Star Clippers baggage tags in your
cruise documentation folder. Please be sure to attach these to all
your bags. Print your ship’s name, your full name, complete
address, phone number, cabin number, and sailing date in the spaces
provided. Please be sure to affix these tags before luggage check-in
to help prevent loss and to facilitate correct identification by
our agents abroad in case of loss. It is wise to place an identification
tag inside your luggage as well. Be sure that your bags are securely
locked at all times.
Medication
Individuals who carry certain medications
(such as insulin for diabetes) in large supplies are advised to
carry a letter on a doctor's letter-head stating all of the following
information:
- Full name of the drug(s)
- Condition for which it was prescribed
- Daily dosage, quantity of drug required
for the period away from home
- That the medication is required for the
well-being of the individual while travelling abroad
It is also suggested that the medication is carried
in its original packaging with the pharmacists label attached. You
may be required to show documentation when passing through Immigration
Control. Do not put medication in checked luggage.
Anyone with a health condition requiring special medical
attention must advise Star Clippers in writing prior to departure.
We will notify the ship for more attentive care onboard.
Money Matters
The currency onboard is the Euro.
Passports and Visas
It is customary for the Purser to retain passports
for clearance with port and immigration authorities. They will be
collected either prior to or upon embarkation and returned just
prior to disembarkation. Star Clippers Ltd. will be unable to grant
any refund to any guests denied boarding or entry into any country
by Customs or immigration officials due to lack of documentation.
Please be sure passport and visa information is in order prior to
leaving home.
Please note: International airline regulations
require that the name printed on your airline ticket is exactly
as shown on your passport.
Photography
Come fully prepared to take advantage of the
excellent photographic opportunities you will have. Bring a camera,
plenty of film and extra batteries.
When photographing local residents, gesture or ask
their permission first. Especially with children, resist any requests
for money in exchange for the shot.
Damage to film by X-ray security devices used to probe
passengers’ luggage is a possibility. Many airlines use magnetic
detection equipment that has no effect on films.
Suggested Clothing
The atmosphere on the ship will be very relaxed
and casual. For daytime wear, walking shorts, bathing attire with
cover-ups, skirts, light trousers, and hats are recommended. For
shore excursions, comfortable walking shoes are essential. In the
evening, sun dresses, skirts or slacks for women, and slacks with
polo or dress shirts for men are recommended. Jackets are not required
– but are welcome for Captain’s dinner. Shorts or T-shirts
are not to be worn in the dining room in the evening.
Vaccination
Be sure to check with your Doctor in advance
to see whether or not you will need any vaccinations.
